Formulation, optimization and characterization of self-emulsifying amorphous solid dispersion (SE-ASD) of Fusidic acid for enhanced antimicrobial efficacy

Authors: Akshay M. Guldagad, Dr. Jaydeep B. Pawar*

Department of Pharmaceutics, Shantiniketan College of Pharmacy, Dhotre (Bk), Ahilyanagar, Maharashtra, India - 414304

Abstract: Fusidic acid, a BCS Class II antibiotic, suffers from poor aqueous solubility and erratic oral bioavailability, limiting its clinical efficacy against MRSA and staphylococcal infections. This study aimed to develop, optimize, and characterize a self-emulsifying amorphous solid dispersion (SE-ASD) of Fusidic acid to enhance its dissolution and antimicrobial potential. Formulation F16 yielded a droplet size of 101.3 ± 1.5 nm, percentage transmittance of 99.1 ± 0.2%, and drug release of 96.10 ± 0.74% at 30 minutes. SE-ASD confirmed complete amorphous conversion by PXRD and achieved 96.84 ± 0.81% drug release at 30 minutes.

Development and validation of RP-HPLC method for simultaneous Estimation of Lamivudine, Tenofovir disoproxil and Dolutegravir

Authors: Prachi P. Kanawade, Amarsingh S. Devadhe

Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Shantiniketan College of Pharmacy, Dhotre (Bk), Ahilyanagar, Maharashtra, India - 414304

Abstract: The aim of this method was to develop and validate a simple, sensitive, rapid and accurate method for simultaneous estimation of Lamivudine, Tenofovir Disoproxil and Dolutegravir in a drug product by using the RP-HPLC technique. The separation was successfully achieved by using Cosmosil C18 (250mm X 4.6 ID) with methanol: water (60:40 %v/v). The average retention times were 3.04 mins, 4.26 mins and 5.30 mins respectively. The method was validated for linearity, precision, robustness, and accuracy as per ICH guidelines.

Hantavirus Infections: Emerging Threats, Molecular Pathogenesis, and Advances in Therapeutic Strategies

Authors: Mr. Ashish Alte*, Dr. Ganesh Barkade, Mr. Dnyaneshwar Hardas

RSM’s NN Sattha College of Pharmacy & Dr. Vithalrao Vikhe Patil Foundation’s College of Pharmacy, Ahilyanagar, Maharashtra, India

Abstract: Hantavirus infections are an emerging threat to global health causing hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS) and hantavirus pulmonary syndrome (HPS) with high fatality rates. This review analyzes emerging epidemiological trends, molecular pathogenesis involving beta3-integrin entry and cytokine dysregulation, as well as advances in mRNA vaccines, monoclonal antibodies (JS02.2), and host-directed therapies providing 80-95% protection in preclinical models.

A Review of Methemoglobinemia: Pathophysiology, Diagnosis, and Management

Authors: Mahesh Yamgar*, Ramesh Sawant, Vikrant Dhamak

Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Dr. Vithalrao Vikhe Patil Foundation’s College of Pharmacy, Ahilyanagar, Maharashtra, India - 414111

Abstract: Methemoglobinemia is a rare blood disorder characterized by an increased proportion of oxidized hemoglobin (methemoglobin). It can be inherited or acquired through exposure to nearly 90 oxidant drugs and chemical compounds including nitrates, aniline derivatives, local anesthetics, dapsone, and sulfonamides. This review comprehensively covers etiology, diagnostic observation protocols, and therapeutic management.

To Design and In-Vitro Evaluation of Novel Polyherbal Oral Gel for Mouth Ulcers

Authors: Abhay V. Dhumal, Priyanka K. Sabale*

Department of Pharmacology, Shantiniketan College of Pharmacy, Dhotre (Bk), Ahilyanagar, Maharashtra, India - 414304

Abstract: The rational combination of botanical extracts into a crosslinked mucoadhesive hydrogel establishes an effective topical delivery system for managing oral mucosal lesions. Psidium guajava and Salvia officinalis extracts were combined using Carbopol 934. Optimized formulation F3 exhibited a physiological pH of 6.58, viscosity of 7935 cP, 94.44% DPPH radical scavenging, 71.21% anti-inflammatory protection, and an 83.17% cellular wound closure rate within 24 hours.
